Fire-Rated Wall for a Busy School Tenant
Virgili Group constructed a massive 190’ long, 20’ high fire-rated wall in 4 weeks, using 5/8 drywall and heavy-gauge studs. The project included precise demolition of offices, a staircase, and steel railings, all while accommodating the tenant's 6-day school schedule through strategic night work and daytime deliveries.
A 2 hour, 190’ long, 20’ high behemoth of a fire rated wall that took us 4 weeks from start to finish. This wall was mainly composed of 2 layers of 5/8 drywall & 6” heavy gauge studs.
Prior to the new construction we were also responsible to neatly demolish 12 existing offices, a steel stair case & over 100 linear feet of steel railings.
We have become very familiar with fire rated demising walls with the increase in demand for warehouse spaces in combination with a small office.
Fire rated demising walls can vary in design based on what type of spaces they are separating, height & how long of a fire rating is required.
We had to organize our schedule to accommodate the tenant – a school that ran 6 days a week. We did this efficiently by coordinating any of the nosier work such as demolition & framing during night hours & deliveries & quieter work like taping during the days.
